2022 Wrapped: Blue Hills Digital Updates

In my last weekly email of 2022 to the Digital Landscape list, I shared some end-of-the-year reflections on how Blue Hills Digital has fared this past year.

I’m not a build-in-public, share-all-the-numbers kind of business owner, but it’s fun to reflect on how the business has grown this year. I’ll also report out on how our Giving Back 10% pledge contributions were allocated.

Thanks to our 2022 Clients

First, I'm deeply grateful to these folks who took the time to invite me into your organization or business, spend time explaining what you're struggling with, and work with me to craft a solution or find a path forward.

In 2022, we've worked with 42 clients in 15 states plus DC. Since I'm a map-nerd (with more years majoring in Geography than I care to admit), these states are highlighted on the map below.

I'm curious to see which additional states we'll be able to add this time next year.

Giving Back

Designing a business is a constant process, and one feature I get to design each year is charitable giving. This time last year, I made a commitment to donate at least 10% of our 2022 gross revenue to nonprofit organizations furthering social, gender, economic and/or environmental justice.

Earlier in the year, we took on two pro-bono website projects for nonprofit organizations, donating services to two orgs I know from direct experience do good work.

Rounding out the year, I'm now directing the remaining balance of the funds to be donated to a range of national organizations that tackle reproductive justice, the climate crisis, the health of our democracy, criminal justice reform, our national housing crisis, and sexual and domestic violence.

We directed donations to the following organizations:

If you're considering making donations before the end of the year, please consider some of the organizations linked above, as well as local organizations in your town, city or state.

We're still planning our Giving Back strategy for 2023. If/when we have pro-bono service offerings available in 2023 we'll share details on the Digital Landscape list, so if you work with a nonprofit organization sign up using the form on the homepage.
